We are looking forward to seeing you this Saturday, February 21 for our next Family Math Afternoon.
The other big news is that we’ve opened the interest form for the Bard Math CAMP! Students first express interest in CAMP and then complete the Math Activity Packet (MAP), which will be ready by early March.
Our contests will continue in April with the Purple Comet Contest. We are planning practices and will announce those soon.

The Family Math Afternoon
Our first family math afternoon of the spring is this Saturday, January 17! It’s for middle school students and their families. The session features Engaging Math Problems, Logic Puzzles, and Thinking Games. You will enjoy a selection of engrossing and hands-on math activities. The mathematical fun will be infinite!
No prior registration is needed for the Family Math Afternoon. We meet in the Community Room.
We’ve recently noticed more interest in mathematical problem solving, and plan to share some great math problems at this and our other upcoming sessions.

Contest Program
We have completed the AMC 10/12 (A and B) contests, the AMC 8 contest, and the AIME contest. These are carefully crafted individual contests.
Our last contest this school year is the team-based Purple Comet Contest. We are forming both middle school and high school teams. There are two challenges: solving increasingly difficult math problems, and coordinating the team’s efforts in the challenge of too many problems!
AMC 10/12A: 5pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
AMC 10/12B: 5pm on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
AMC 8: 5pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 (snow date: January 23).
Purple Comet Contest 2pm on Saturday, April 18, 2026
(Practices TBA)
Bard Math CAMP
The Creative and Analytical Math Program will take place on the Bard College campus, in-person, from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7, 2026, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm each day.
Admissions is a 3 stage process. The (1) Interest Form is now open. After that, students will be sent the (2) Math Activity Packet (which will be ready by early March or before). Parents of students who are invited to join CAMP will complete the (3) Confirmation Form.

We’ve joined the Summer Mathematics Programs Consortium! This community of mathematically-intensive summer enrichment programs is dedicated to improvement and promoting greater access to advanced study in the mathematical sciences for middle and high school students.

Mathy Meetups on Wednesday afternoons in Kingston, NY
We've been having fun with weekly Homeschool math meet ups! So far we're six kids, three families, and two mathy moms. The kids work out interesting/chewy math problems sourced from math competitions - we call them mini math projects.
They're having a great time! We see their enthusiasm, patience, problem solving, collaboration, and math abilities growing fast.
Multiple levels are in separate groups, ages 11–17 and younger siblings are welcome.
We usually meet in a Kingston Library meeting room, Wednesdays, 2:20pm to 4:20pm, starting again weekly in February. Feel free to reach out for more info or to be included with any updates/cancellations.
