Happy New Year! We’re looking forward to doing math with you, and hope that this year is full of mathematical fun and understanding.

Join us for the AMC 8 Math Contest next week on Thursday, January 22 at Simon’s Rock (new location, just a mile south of Bard College).
I’m also happy to announce dates for the Bard Math CAMP 2026! Please save the dates: Monday, August 3, 2026 to Friday, August 7, 2026.

The Family Math Afternoon
Our first family math afternoon of the spring is this Saturday, January 17! It’s for middle school students and their families. The session features Engaging Math Problems, Logic Puzzles, and Thinking Games. You will enjoy a selection of engrossing and hands-on math activities. The mathematical fun will be infinite!
No prior registration is needed for the Family Math Afternoon. We meet in the Community Room.
We’ve recently noticed more interest in mathematical problem solving, and plan to share some great math problems at this and our other upcoming sessions.

Contest Program
The AMC 8 contest (for middle school students) will be held on Thursday, January 22. We still have room and welcome mathematical problem solvers!
Later this April, we’ll host the Purple Comet team contest for middle school and high school students.
AMC 10/12A: 5pm on Wednesday, November 5, 2025.
AMC 10/12B: 5pm on Thursday, November 13, 2025.
AMC 8: 5pm on Thursday, January 22, 2026 (snow date: January 23).

Bard Math CAMP
Please save the date!
The Creative and Analytical Math Program will take place on the Bard College campus, in-person, from Monday, August 3 to Friday, August 7, 2026, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm each day.
Admissions is a 3 stage process. We will soon publish the (1) Interest Form. After that, students will be sent the (2) Math Activity Packet (which will be ready by early March or before). Parents of students who are invited to join CAMP will complete the (3) Confirmation Form.

We’ve joined the Summer Mathematics Programs Consortium! This community of mathematically-intensive summer enrichment programs is dedicated to improvement and promoting greater access to advanced study in the mathematical sciences for middle and high school students.
If you are a CAMP alum in high school, take a look at our partner programs and let the adventure continue!
Mathy Meetups on Wednesday afternoons in Kingston, NY
We've been having fun with weekly Homeschool math meet ups! So far we're six kids, three families, and two mathy moms. The kids work out interesting/chewy math problems sourced from math competitions - we call them mini math projects.
They're having a great time! We see their enthusiasm, patience, problem solving, collaboration, and math abilities growing fast.
Multiple levels are in separate groups, ages 11–17 and younger siblings are welcome.
We usually meet in a Kingston Library meeting room, Wednesdays, 2:20pm to 4:20pm, starting again weekly in February. Feel free to reach out for more info or to be included with any updates/cancellations.
