Dear Friend of the Bard Math Circle,
This is Japheth and Frances from the Bard Math Circle, and we are writing to share the impact of our programs this past year and ask for your support for our flagship initiative: the Bard Math CAMP.
We've had an incredible year connecting students and parents through the joy of mathematics. Your gift today helps us ensure the Bard Math CAMP remains accessible and transformative.
Our Year of Impact
Our programming has created a vital community for curious minds in the Mid-Hudson Valley:
Family Math Afternoons: Our monthly, popular drop-in series at the Kingston Library continues to attract a loyal following of middle school students and their parents. They work together on games and puzzles (like SET, Towers of Hanoi, and the new favorite, Ghost Blitz), create mathematical artifacts (like hexaflexagons and Möbius strips), and tackle challenging problem-solving concepts, including the AMC 8 contest-style problems.
Celebrating Pi Day: We continue to encourage regional celebration of Pi Day (March 14) with fun, hands-on math activities in collaboration with SUNY New Paltz, building excitement for mathematics across the Mid-Hudson Valley.
Math Problem Solving: Our contest program continues, featuring the AMC individual contests as well as the team-based Purple Comet Contest that has brought together many middle and high school students for collaborative mathematical problem solving.
The Flagship Program: Bard Math CAMP
The Bard Math CAMP is where our work culminates. It provides deep, immersive mathematical experiences for the most motivated students, fostering skills that turn math from a subject into a creative tool. However, to keep this program high-quality and equitable, we face specific financial needs this year.
We urgently need to raise $4,000 to cover two critical areas that directly benefit our students:
Purpose
Cost
Need-Based Scholarships (Full or partial support for 4-8 students)
$2,000
Program Costs (Outreach, marketing, supplies, and camp needs)
$2,000
TOTAL GOAL
$4,000
Join Our Mission
Our work ensures that mathematics is enjoyable, based on thinking and building deep understanding. By supporting the Bard Math CAMP, you are supporting the systematic development of problem-solvers in our community.
Will you make a gift today to help us reach our $4,000 goal?
Sincerely,
Japheth Wood and Frances Stern
