Good Evening!
This is Math Professor Japheth Wood from Bard College. I’m writing to you since you’ve expressed interest in Math Contests with the Bard Math Circle.
I want to first mention that we have just a few spots left for the AMC 10B and AMC 12B next week on Wednesday evening. We’re holding the contest in person at Bard College. Please email me (just hit the reply button) if you are interested (I’m keeping the registration form hidden, to be sure that our site is not oversubscribed).
Coming up next, we will offer the AMC 8 contest in January. Our registration will open up soon after the AMC 10/12B contests are over. Then, in April, we plan to offer two team-based contests; the Purple Comet Contest for both middle school and high school students, and the Girls’ Adventures in Math Contest for elementary and middle school girls. More information about that will come later.
Is there a contest that you’d like to see us offer? For example, the Math Kangaroo has appeared on our radar. Please email me if you have ideas or an interest in another contest.
Also, we haven’t been able to offer preparation for these contests this year for various reasons. We have in the past, and this was extremely helpful for both the students preparing to take the contests and for our undergraduate instructors. Please get in touch if you would like to talk about how to bring this back.
We offer a lot more than math contests. But there is nothing quite like a contest problem to help develop profound and technical math skills. I’m glad to have you with us.
Sincerely,
Japheth
