Celebrating BEAM Entry Points program in Kingston
The Bard Math Circle is excited to partner with BEAM and the Kingston City School District to start a BEAM Entry Points program in Kingston, NY.
Entry Points is part of BEAM’s new national initiative to provide access to advanced mathematics to students from low-income and historically marginalized communities nationwide. It is a rigorous and fun math enrichment program developed by BEAM for elementary students who are ready for more challenge in math.
Entry Points students meet with their teacher every week in small groups, working through math questions and diving into cool new ideas. Through these group activities, students will develop new mindsets and mathematical tools, and they'll strengthen their identities as problem solvers and mathematicians. Entry Points is currently a pilot math enrichment program for 5th graders with a selection process that is limited to Bailey and Miller middle schools.
About Bridge to Enter Advanced Mathematics (BEAM):
BEAM asks: What does it really take to be successful in science, math, engineering, or programming? The strongest students have spent thousands of hours learning outside of school by the time they enter college. BEAM is an enrichment program that exposes students to advanced math that they don’t often get to see in school and gives them a community of peers who love math like they do.
