Update on Spring 2020 Programs
Dear Bard Math Circle Community,
I'm writing to you today with an update on how the Bard Math Circle is moving online with two programs, and considering a third.
Purple Comet Math Meet
For our contest-minded students, we've started weekly practice sessions leading up to the online Purple Comet Math Meet on April 26. Besides engaging with challenging math problems (for both middle school and high school students), these practices offer students the opportunity to ramp up their real world team-based online skills that will give them access to more options in the weeks (and perhaps months) to come. This weekend, for our second practice, we will offer personal coaching from Bard undergraduates to help students join us online. Register Here. This is a free event.
Online Math Tutoring
With schools closed, many students find themselves in need of math help. And here at Bard, many undergraduates, especially international and work-study students, suddenly find that their campus employment has vanished. We are organizing online math tutoring to connect our amazing undergraduate math tutors with K-12 students. We aim to provide top quality math tutoring without regard for ability to pay (even at no cost). If you are able, we are requesting a donation of $20 per one hour online session, so that we can provide employment to these talented undergraduates. We are grateful for your support of this new venture (a link to our donation page is at the bottom of this email). If you are interested in online math tutoring, please Fill out this Form.
2020 CAMP
This summer's CAMP is scheduled for the week of August 3–7, and we hope that the situation will have normalized by then. However, we are making contingency plans to run CAMP as an online program, if necessary. Please be patient; registration is expected to open by mid-April. For more information about CAMP, Click Here.
We wish you the best during these challenging times. And we hope to do math with you soon (online, for now).
Sincerely,
Japheth Wood
Bard Math Circle

The Creative and Analytical Math Program

We are optimistically planning for CAMP 2020.
Dates: Monday through Friday, August 3–7, 2020
Time: 9:00am to 3:30pm each day
Location: The idyllic Bard College campus in Annandale-on-Hudson
For: Students currently in grades 5 through 8
Entering its 7th summer in 2020, the Creative and Analytical Math Program (CAMP) is a non-residential academic math enrichment opportunity for students who want to explore challenging math in a relaxed setting. Engaging classes and activities are led by experienced educators and undergraduate math majors. We emphasize hands-on math, teamwork, outside-the-box thinking and creative problem-solving.
The application form will be ready soon, with April 30 as the priority deadline (followed by rolling admissions). Please join our email list so that we can contact you with updates.

POSTPONED: Celebrate Pi Day with us at Repair Café!
Sadly, our celebration of the mysterious number π did not take place as planned. We now have a backlog of wonderful Pi Day stickers and bookmarks, as well as amazing Pi-related activities ready to go. Any day is Pi Day (if you want it), and we hope to celebrate Pi Day with you later this year. Perhaps 2π day on 6/28?
