Dear Math Circler,
We hope that you had an incredible summer and are ready for some fun math programs that we have set up for this upcoming fall! This is our first newsletter of the year, with information about all of the mathematical escapades that will be happening this fall.
Math Circle Meetups
Come hang out with Bard undergraduates and other math enthusiasts to play games, solve puzzles, and work on some enriching problem solving based on an exciting mathematical theme!
This semester we will have two events for students to attend at the library in Tivoli. The first library event in October will be focused on graph theory. And for the November meetup the theme will be Cryptography.
Our Math Circle Meetups are run on a drop-in basis and registration is not required.

Time: 12:30–2:00
Location: Tivoli Free Library, 86 Broadway, Tivoli, NY 12583.
For: Students, grades 5–9

Girls Math Club
The Bard Math Circle is pleased to announce the Middle School Girls Math Club for Fall 2018–Spring 2019. Sessions will include hands-on projects, puzzles, and games as well as open-ended math problems led by female math majors at Bard. Our goal is to foster a community of girls who love math and give them an opportunity to interact with female math students and math educators in a mentoring setting. This club is ideal for girls who are enthusiastic about engaging in math-related activities outside of school and meeting like-minded peers.
The cost of club membership is $50 for the year, but we have scholarships for those in need, just let us know. We accept cash as well as checks made payable to Bard Math Circle.
Dates: Sundays, October 7th, November 17th, December 2nd,
January 27th, February 17th, March 31st, and April 28th
Time: 1:00–4:00 pm
Location: Reem-Kayden Center, Bard College.
For: Girls in grades 6–9 with a mathematical curiosity
Please fill out the Google form here to apply for the 2018–2019 school year. The application process will be closed on Friday, September 28th at 5:00 pm. Please note that if you have been a member of the Girls Math Club in the past, you still need to re-apply.
We expect registrants will be able to attend most of the sessions, so please let us know in advance if your student needs to miss a session. Please come to each session ready for some outdoor physical activity as well as a mind that is ready to think critically through some challenging and fun math activities.
