Our Rubik's Cube Club takes place every Thursday from 4:30 - 6:00 pm at the Red Hook Community Center, located at 59 Fisk St, Red Hook, NY 12571. These meetups are informal and intended for experienced cubers who want to practice and collaborate with other cubers. Bring your cube and get ready for competition and fun!
AMC 8
We will be hosting the AMC 8 Contest at Bard College on Tuesday, November 14th from 4:30 - 6:30 pm. This contest is intended to challenge middle school students with accessible mathematical concepts, but at a level that is above and beyond what is typically encountered in the school curriculum. We will also be holding several prep sessions on the weekends leading up to the contest to help students practice for the exam and share some test taking strategies. The first prep session's topic will be Geometry and will take place at Bard College in RKC room 111 on Saturday October 14th from 1-4 PM.
Please note that you must register for the contest in order to attend prep sessions.
For more information about the contest, prep sessions, and how to register, click here. We will use the registration page to communicate prep session dates, reminders, and other important information with registrants, so please register early!
Middle School Girls Math Club
Do you know any middle school girls who LOVE MATH and want to meet other like-minded girls? The Bard Math Circle announces our newest program, the Girls Math Club, a monthly gathering of middle school girls in the Mid-Hudson Valley, led by female math majors from Bard College. Each meeting will have a different theme but all will involve hands-on math enrichment activities, puzzles, games, mentoring by college students, and the opportunity to be part of a community of girls doing math!
The club will officially start in 2018, but we are hosting an Open House on October 22nd, from 1-3pm in the Reem-Kayden Center for Science and Computation (RKC) at Bard College. Girls who come to the Open House will learn about the Girls Math Club, meet other middle school girls and college women who love math, play games, and engage in other math related activities.
Please pre-register for the open house here.
We can't wait to see you at these upcoming events!
