Greetings from the Bard Math Circle! We know many of you are eager to get started on preparation for the Purple Comet! Math Meet, so as promised, here is some important information about how to get involved.
The Competition
The Purple Comet! Math Meet is a free annual competition held for middle school and high school students; middle and high school students compete on separate teams in separate versions of the contest. We will register teams and hold the competition at Bard College between Tuesday April 12 through Thursday April 21, depending on the availability of the students and teams who sign up and come to prep sessions.
Prep Sessions
We will hold two preparatory sessions at Bard on the following dates. These sessions will help acquaint students with Purple Comet! style questions, learn general problem solving techniques, and get them used to solving problems in a group. They will also serve to introduce students to their teams and to fix a date for the actual meet. Attendance at these sessions is strongly recommended.
Sessions:
Sunday, April 3rd at 1:00 - 4:00 PM in RKC 101
Sunday, April 10th, time and location TBD
If you would like to attend either of these sessions, please indicate that on the registration form below.
Registration
To register for the Purple Comet, please fill out the form below. We will register the teams participating with the Purple Comet, please do not additionally sign up on their site. Using this form, you can register as an individual and we will help you form a team. You can also register as a pre-formed team. Teams that have all members from the same school qualify for a different category in the contest. Teams may only have up to six members.
