Bard Math Circle: AMC 8 Results, 2016 Preview, and Summer Programs
We at the Bard Math Circle would like to extend our sincere thanks to all of you who have helped make our 2015 programs such a success! With that said, 2016 is right around the corner.
2016 CALENDAR
We made dodecahedron calendars at our Kingston Library session last weekend. You can download the plans (and more!) from our Documents page, and you'll be ready for 2016!
Here is what the Bard Math Circle has planned next!
AMC 8 RESULTS
We have not yet received the exam results from the AMC 8 at Bard College, but we will make them available as soon as we do! While you are waiting, check out the Art of Problem Solving website here for the problems and solutions from this year's AMC 8 exam.
AMC 10/12 B (REGISTER)
We are hosting these national high school math competitions at Bard College on Wednesday, February 17, 2016 at 4:00 pm.
Join us at Bard for two prep sessions in advance of the AMC 10/12, on Saturday February 6 and Saturday February 13. If you would like to start practicing right now, check out past AMC 10 problems and solutions here, and AMC 12 problems and solutions here.
Registration to take the contests at Bard is free but required due to limited space. For more information and to register for the exam at Bard, click here.
The AMC 10/12 contests are both 25-question, 75-minute, multiple choice examinations in secondary school mathematics. The AMC 10 B is open to any student who is in 10th grade or below, and the AMC 12 B is open to any student who is in 12th grade or below.
TIVOLI LIBRARY
On Friday February 5th, 2016, we will be at the Tivoli Library on 86 Broadway, Tivoli, NY 12583. Join us at 4 pm for games, puzzles, and interesting problems!
KINGSTON LIBRARY
On Saturday, February 13th, we welcome one and all to the Kingston Library, 55 Franklin Street, Kingston, NY 12401. Come to the Community Room on the second floor at 1 pm for more math fun!
All library programs are run on a drop-in basis, and registration is not required. We do ask students to sign in each time, and to provide their name, grade and school. This is done electronically for Kingston, so please sign in using this link at least once this year.
SUMMER PROGRAMS
What are you doing next summer? We are planning our 2016 Summer Program (known as C.A.M.P.) for late August, and will announce it early in the new year. But other math summer programs are already accepting applications.
One top math summer program for advanced middle school students is MathPath (www.mathpath.org/). The best lists of math summer programs that we know about are:
Summer Math Camps and Programs for Students: http://www.ams.org/programs/students/emp-mathcamps
Mathematics summer programs: http://www.artofproblemsolving.com/wiki/index.php/Mathematics_summer_program
We hope you all enjoy your holiday season and are looking forward to seeing you in the new year!
